Cette situation s'inscrit dans un contexte o\u00f9, selon des estimations de 2018 (Small Arms Survey), les m\u00e9nages suisses d\u00e9tiennent quelque 2,3 millions d'armes, ce qui fait de la Suisse l'un des pays occidentaux o\u00f9 la densit\u00e9 d'armes est la plus \u00e9lev\u00e9e. Au niveau mondial, elle occupe la quatri\u00e8me place pour ce qui est de la possession d'armes \u00e0 titre priv\u00e9, derri\u00e8re les \u00c9tats-Unis, le Y\u00e9men et la Serbie. En l'absence d'un registre central, il n'est pas possible de chiffrer exactement le nombre d'armes se trouvant aujourd'hui dans les m\u00e9nages priv\u00e9s suisses. Dans un entretien avec les journaux de Tamedia, la directrice de fedpol, Nicoletta della Valle, met en garde contre une augmentation de la propension \u00e0 la violence depuis la pand\u00e9mie, d'autant que parmi les personnes enclines \u00e0 la violence, certaines sont arm\u00e9es. Si l'on veut contr\u00f4ler les armes et les armements au niveau national, il faut savoir quelle est leur diffusion.
