D\u00e8s 22 km/h environ, le roulement des pneus \u00e0 vitesse constante fait plus de bruit que le moteur des voitures. Des pneus plus silencieux permettent de r\u00e9duire consid\u00e9rablement le bruit routier, directement \u00e0 la source et sans perte de confort. En janvier 2023, un rapport command\u00e9 par l'OFEV sur le potentiel de diff\u00e9rentes mesures de r\u00e9duction du bruit routier a \u00e9t\u00e9 publi\u00e9. Il conclut que des pneus silencieux r\u00e9duisent le bruit de 2 dB pour les v\u00e9hicules l\u00e9gers et de 1 dB pour les v\u00e9hicules lourds (camions). Si l'on recourait syst\u00e9matiquement \u00e0 des pneumatiques moins bruyants, il serait possible de prot\u00e9ger environ 35&nbsp;% des personnes touch\u00e9es par le bruit pendant la journ\u00e9e et environ 25&nbsp;% pendant la nuit.
